Middle East
Though official war has not been declared since World War II, the United States has a heavy presence in the Middle East. The US has been fighting the War on Terror since 9/11. However, in aiding the citizens of the Middle East in the fight against terrorists, the US is responsible for many accidental civilian deaths. Approximately 210,000 civilians have died in the crossfires.
There is no “Middle East Today” section because this is the Middle East today. Civilians live in fear day-in and day-out.
